Brandon: I'm pretty sure the folks who animated the characters in this spot were a company called "Primal Screen", who did most of the late 90's/early 2000's Cartoon Network ads and bumpers. I imagine they mistook Egghead for Bosko or Buddy, or assumed he was originally a black and white 1930's star, which he wasn't.
I still don't get why Egghead is in black and white.
