Puppets and Potatoes

Here's another 1970's TV spot, this time for a giveaway that must have been popular. In 1970, Crest/Scope gave away Looney Tunes puppets. I have seen these at flea markets for years, but rarely intact (usually only the rubber heads survive).

I still don't have much to say about the new Looney Tunes Show. However, now available at Walmart to tie-in with the new CN series are Mr. Potato Heads dressed as Bugs, Daffy or Taz. How could we not document these things here at Misce-Looney-ous?

  1. Surprised there's no Bugs, Daffy or Porky puppets. Oh well

  2. I've often seen people selling the heads as finger puppets not realizing they originally came with plastic bodies.

I had this set when I was a kid and repurchased them all (with 'bodies' intact) years later for my collection. I scoured the earth (slight exaggeration) assuming there must be a Bugs and Daffy but, no, these six were the complete set.

Around the same time, another company made similar puppets with cloth plaid and polka-dot bodies. The heads had large googly eyes and I'm pretty certain these were unlicensed. I've seen Bugs, Porky, Sylvester, Foghorn Leghorn, and Elmer Fudd.
