We Looney Tunes fans may not agree on everything, but there is at least one thing I think everyone can agree on. Bugs Bunny's Howl-o-ween Special is awful. It is so awful it reaches whole new levels of awfulness. While I will readily admit most of the "cut-and-paste" LT television specials of the 1970s and '80s are in no way great, I still get that feeling of nostalgia whenever I see one. It takes me back to a time as a kid when seeing a cartoon special on primetime television really was something special. CBS would usually pair up one of these Bugs specials with a Peanuts or Garfield special. Yet, even as a kid I thought Howl-o-ween was horrible.. You get the impression that whoever slapped this show together didn't even TRY to have it make any sense (Witch Hazel's house apparently has the ability to change in every scene? Hazel turns herself into Count Bloodcount(!)? ...etc.) and DePatie-Freleng apparently had a budget of about $6.95 for the animation of the new connecting scenes. Thanks to the miracle of in2TV you can enjoy (?) this special for yourself.

But Jon, didn't you understan that this show is awful and scary because is made for halloween time? ;-)Think: Halloween a typical fest in which everything is scary! The main nightmares for the kids are orrible cut-scenes fron DePatie-Freleng Cartoons that come out from the TV,Which Hazel who turns herself into Gerge W.Bush and other stuff like this!
Sheesh, why dosen't In2TV have the superior "Bugs Bunny's Creature Feature" wwhich feature 3 new cartoons. Okay granted, 2 of them didn't actully debut here, but all 3 shorts are mermorable and are a whole lot betten than this horror(pun!) mess.
Even though I hate the Halloween specials, and the Christmas special is bleh, I think the Thanksgiving ones are somewhat interesting, and I really want to see "Bugs Bunny in King Arthur's Court" or something like that...
YOU'VE SPOILED MY WHOLE EVENING!!!
I'm beginning to think that the main reason Greg Ford and Terry Lennon did Daffy Duck's Quackbusters was to show the world the right way to do a Halloween-themed Looney Tunes compilation project. At least in that one, things actually happen for a reason.
This special is so horrible than the story don't have any senses. I make even a review last year on TV.com
Geez, how disjointed----no explanation for how Bugs got the umpire's uniform, or half of the stuff that's happening (the mice terrorizing Porky and Sylvester are the result of Witch Hazel's spell?!). The scenes of Bugs grinning broadly at the end and of him being turned back from a Hyde-bunny to normal looked rather, well, bizarrely drawn...
