1974 Wonder Bread Trading Cards

The following images and information come to us from our friend Jerry Beck. He also poses a question: how many more of these were made?

"This week on Facebook I posted five LOONEY TUNES COLLECTORS CARDS I saved from packages Wonder Bread in 1974. I'm sending you the scans if you want to use them on your website.

Does anyone have the whole set? I'd love to see the other cards in this series. I don't even know how many different cards there were. "

Best,

Jerry Beck

Honey in that picture looks a lot like Lola Bunny (if she were dressed for the 70s)...

Honey Bunny was essentially the inspiration for Lola Bunny. In fact, Honey was created for comic book stories, and never appeared in a single animated cartoon. Lola was created for "Space Jam", and a few comic book and webtoon appearances later, became Bugs' main squeeze. Both of them suck, in my opinion.

I can't say how many cards are in the set, I can report that I've got a Superman card that's an exact match in its design, and is drawn by someone who is clearly not a superhero artist. I'll see if I can lay hands on it and give it a scan.

I've posted some Wonder Bread cards at my blog. Battlestar Galactica, US History, and DC Comics. I remember these, but don't have them any more.

That is one seriously evil and psychotic looking Elmer. Even worse than in my favorite Bugs cartoon, "Easter Yeggs."

ELMER: "I'm waiting for the Easter Wabbit. When he comes in looking so fwuffy and cute with his wittle basket of Easter eggs... BANG! Easter Wabbit stew! HA HA HA!"

I don't have any of the Wonderbread cards but I do have an old metal waste basket with that picture of Foghorn (including the speech bubble) on the side. Now, it finally makes a little bit of sense.

That Elmer one scares the crap out of me; The rocking chair just seems to add an extra creep factor to his psychotic. *Shudder*

This set of cards is known as 1974 Wonder Bread DC/Warner Bros.
The set consists of 30 cards featuring DC heroes and villans and Warner Bros. characters.

I don't remember these being from Wonder bread, which my mother wouldn't buy, but I've got some more of these iirc. When the east coast blizzard abates, I'll see if I can find them.

'Honey in that picture looks a lot like Lola Bunny'

I think that, technically speaking, Lola and Honey are the same character. Honey was planned to be put in Space Jam, however, some artists said that she looks too much like Bugs in drag so they needed to change her visual appearance. And, for some reasons, to change her name as well.

Some time ago I wrote an unofficial biography of Honey Bunny, putting in it everything I know about her creation, appearances in comics and on stage, merchandise, changes of her look, etc. May I post a link to it here? I don't want my comment to be considered as spam :P

Here's the biography of Honey Bunny I mentioned in my previous comment:

It's divided into few parts.

I've found that on some cards the characters are miscolored. For example, Beaky Buzzard is purple: http://images.cloud.worthpoint.com/wpimages/images/images2/1/0207/25/1_00d54362d88aaa43976004adbc8a3b79.jpg
