Rare Footage from The Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Show

Here is some rarely seen footage from The Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Show (aka The Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Hour). While the opening of the show made it onto one of the Golden Collection DVD sets, these original pieces of animation used on the show (and done by Robert McKimson's unit) didn't make the cut.

First, Bugs is on stage where he finds himself in the middle of the Coyote's pursuit of the Road Runner in this clip introducing the second half of The Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Hour:

Here is the original ending of the show. Wile E. is setting up his latest trap for the RR. Meanwhile, Bugs just happens to be driving by in his little red car (with a horn that sounds remarkably like our fast-feathered friend)..... disaster ensues. Stay tuned after the credits for the two stars of the show telling us we had just watched a "Warner Bros.-Seven Arts television presentation.":

For the final season of The Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Show (1984-5) CBS gave the show a whole new, more modern theme song. This is not the full version, but one that ran when the second part of the show began. The full version was a bit longer (if you know where we can find a copy, let us know).

Maybe better versions of these clips will show up as DVD bonus material one day.

Foghorn Leghorn and Pepe never get much credit in most WB stuff.

Those are a couple of nice bits of animation!
Bugs sure got roughed up during those bumpers, didn't he?

It's kind of interesting that this BB/RR closing sequence gives us an idea what a Bugs toon might have looked like had any been made during the Bill Hendricks era.

On that note, has there ever been an explanation why DePatie/Freleng or W7 under Hendricks chose not to make any new Bugs Bunny shorts? (In retrospect, I'm sure we're all grateful he was never defiled that way, but it would seem like a business no-brainer to feature your biggest star.)

I'm curious about this particular program...I read where CBS combined "The Bugs Bunny Show" and "The Road Runner Show" into "The Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Hour" and then "The Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Show" and watching the clip of 'Part Two' it has the THIS IS IT theme playing. I didn't realize that was part of this show...I assumed it was only part of the official "Bugs Bunny Show" without the Road Runner connection and then re-used on ABC when they put out the "Bugs Bunny/Tweety Show" in the mid 1980's.
